There I was relaxing in the royal court when I felt the deck shake. Suddenly the box opens up and I (along with the other 51) am tossed out into some magicians sweaty hands. I had mixed emotions; part of me was irritated because I was yanked from a wonderful dream of the Queen of Hearts frolicking through a field of daisies. However, part of me was excited because I was about to be used as a tool in the hands of this greasy human, a tool to amaze another humanoid.
Then of course I remember that this particular amateur is stuck in the proverbial box that we are all trying to “think out of.” He still performs four Ace Tricks. I’m so sick of it. Why the Aces? What’s so special about an Ace? I’m much more colorful than any of the Aces. On top of that I’m patterned after the biblical King David. I, and my partners, are just as capable of doing a four-card trick. Let this be a lesson to you humans. If you want to keep your deck happy, change things up a bit. Don’t be the amateur.
You could learn a thing or two from Jeff Stone. He’s not afraid to get a little crazy and use us Kings for a change. Here’s a perfect example of thinking outside of the box; Jeff has a trick inspired by yours truly. It’s called Dethroned. Check it out, and you’ll see what I mean. So all you magicians out there, don’t follow the herd. Try a Four King trick for a change. You never know where it’ll lead you.
